Timing Belt Replacement
Not all engines use timing belts, making them an often overlooked maintenance operation. But ignoring it could easily turn an otherwise good day into a bad one. If the timing belt fails it will leave you stranded because your engine cannot run without it. In certain cars a broken timing belt can lead to valve-cylinder contact and cause serious engine damage. Ideally, it should be replaced at regular intervals to prevent the added expense and inconvenience of an unexpected break down and towing fee.
Unfortunately, replacing your timing belt can be very expensive at your dealership. Doing the job right prevents premature failures in the future and includes replacing the water pump if driven by the timing belt, inspecting all tensioners, idler pulleys and oil seals and replacing any requiring it, and making sure the seals around the belt cover are tight to prevent moisture and dirt from contaminating the belt.
Today's vehicles are much more durable than in the past and timing belt can last up to 160,000 km. Most manufacturers include timing belt replacement intervals in their maintenance schedule. At Nagu Auto Collision Centre we've been replacing timing belts for years. Call us today to find out more about our low cost timing belt replacement service.
